S&S Sew-Along 1

My patterns have arrived, huzzah!
So I guess it just a took awhile for the yays and nays to come in about the Sew-Along. Remember, you're still welcome to join at anytime! Some people asked if it would be broken down into parts, and yes, it will be. This is the plan:
Jan-Apr: Undergarments
May-Aug: Gown
Sep-Dec: Spencer/Pelisse
You can finish as early as you like, and if one spills over into another's time slot that is fine too.
Those who have joined in include: Heather In Oregon (do you have a blog?), Nancy, Leah F. (to where should I link in order to follow your progress?), Christine H. will join in for the coat and maybe the undergarments as she's already made the gown, and then Bry and JadeStar003 might join in for certain parts.

My own personal plan is to have all my materials for the Chemise bought by the end of January. So get those patterns ordered!
To Buy:  Fabric, drawstring (cord or ribbon) and thread.
The pattern suggests pima, lawn or another lightweight 100% cotton fabric for the Chemise. I'll probably just buy some light, white muslin from Jo-Anns with a coupon. I'll do a tutorial on making your own bias binding.

Ah! The Lovely Boylan Sisters!

I just finished my PatternReview on Simplicity 2418 and I did my Burdastyle Project of it this morning. I mean, c'mon, how awesome are these shirts?!

I can't wait to make my own. I may need to seeing as my Simpicity 2360 peacock dress is giving me a major headache. The flounce edges won't hem with my 1/4" hem foot, so I will have to bias bind them, boo! On top of that I discovered I had only cut out half the number of side front pieces needed (I had to double everything to make a self lining), and now don't have any extra fabric to cut them from. What to do!?
Grace's dress came out lovely as well, I have not put it up on Burdastyle yet, because I don't have a photo that I am satisfied with, and of course the gem chain cracked and broke while being dry cleaned!
By the way, I'm going to post the first Sew-Along update tomorrow!

Annie Photos

Unfortunately because the site which hosts the Annie photos is super protective, I can only provide a link to the album, actually showing the photos is not allowed :(
Anyways, here's the Annie Album.

How about those Boylan Sister blouses I made?
Or the final purple gown for Grace?

Edelweiss Patterns

I guess I'll be doing a sew-alone on the Sense and Sensibility patterns, that's OK. One of the actresses that I am costuming and I bonded a little after I saw her reading PandP. I still have yet to read it, but I did tell her about my regency outfit project and she got quite excited.
A new pattern company has just sprung into existence, called Edelweiss Patterns. Yes, if you love The Sound of Music, these patterns are for you! I'm gaga over their first pattern, which is called the Liesl Dress (see photo below). Liesl is not only my favorite character in the movie, but the dress she wears is stunning. They did an amazing job recreating the look and it is quite affordable at $13.99. Someday I will make it!
By the way, I never posted about my new blog: 365 Things I Don't Need. Like many sewing enthusiasts I'm a total junk hoarder. So I'm getting rid of one thing every day and posting about it.
